This is the sad truth.

1 Corinthians 4:9-13

For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men. We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ!....To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless. We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly. Up to this moment we have become the scum of the earth, the refuse of the world.

If you don't feel like you are the outcast in this world, then you aren't strong enough in your faith. By definition, one who follows Christ cannot be of this world. I've spent many years believing that being a Christian means to believe in a kind and loving God that will pull you through all the hard situations in life. Although that much is true, what i had twisted in my mind was that being a Christian meant having an easier life in this world than the rest. How foolish of me. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I used to think that because we have God on our side, we wouldn't face trouble or hardships in this life that we couldn't endure, but the reality is that we will face unimaginable turmoil on this life on earth BECAUSE of our Faith in Christ, and it is with our Faith that we will overcome it all.

Oil does not mix with water. We are made in God's image, how can we conform to the laws of this world? We are not here on earth to be liked by others, or to win a popularity contest. No. In fact, the more hated you are and the more you are persecuted in this world because of your faith, be glad, for you are being a fool for God, and God will surely reward you.

It is easy to lose your faith in college. you want to be popular. you open up your mind to learn and try new things because after all, you are in college, and you "only life once", right? Drinking every once in a while with friends isn't so bad, right? Condoning the desanctification of Marriage is ok because everyone else on campus seems to feel so strongly that way about it right? i mean cmon, its hard to show you are a yes on prop 8 supporter on campus because everyone seems to think the other way, so theres no harm in not showing support for either right?

- Definition of the word Lukewarm.

God hates the lukewarm. If you are not FOR God, you are AGAINST him. There is no compromise. If you claim to be a follower of Christ, you have to leave ALL of your ways of this world behind, otherwise how can you change the people of this world if you do that same things they do? Imagine you are drinking at a party and Jesus walked into the room and saw what you were doing. Imagine that you are trying to preach to someone about their drinking problem when you yourself are an alchoholic. If you claim to be a Christian, be very careful of your actions.

I don't write this to shame anyone, i write this because i myself needed someone to tell me these things before, and i don't want anyone to make the same mistakes i made.
